A Cartier Santos Octagon LM in steel and 18k gold with a rare burgundy dial. Ref. 2966. Automatic movement with a date view at 3 o’clock. This watch features a burgundy lacquer dial, which looks perfect when viewed front-on. When tilted at an angle and caught with the right light reflection, natural hairline cracks on the top coating of the paint can be seen, “spidering” as it is referred, which is not uncommon in vintage lacquer dials. This watch is highly sought-after for its burgundy dial (most of this model came with a white dial with Roman numerals) and this example is in overall excellent original condition. Case is 29mm wide without the crown. Unisex. Ca. 1980’s. |
